Sunshine Nostalgia
I feel nostalgic for something that isn’t fully over.
This summer reminded me that childhood is valuable.
That laughter fuels the soul.
That family is an unspoken bond.
I’d be lying if I said this whole summer was all fun and carefree. I had my ruts.
Times when I didn’t feel like myself.
Times when I fell out of the routines that ground me.
Times when I felt a little stuck.
Times that were in reality weeks.
But nostalgia doesn’t carry guilt.
Or at least, it shouldn’t.
I’m going to miss the patience I gained. The people who made me feel most like myself. The permanent smile lines. And, undoubtedly, the endless hours I spent reflecting.
Things are changing.
And it’s hard not to push away the good while it’s still here. Maybe because a part of me already knows that this season of life won’t always look like this.
My love for this summer came from the simple moments.
The ones that weren’t planned.
The ones that weren’t documented.
The ones that felt ordinary in the moment, but somehow became the ones I’ll remember most.
I don’t think I’ll miss a perfect summer.
But I’ll sure as hell miss this one.
