The Weight of a Scale

4 days to pack for about 820 days of living in another country.

Constantly watching the fluctuation of…43.2 lbs → 49.6 lbs → 48.8 lbs → 52 lbs → 49.6 lbs → who knows. I had to stop checking. My flight was waiting. The one people kept asking me about. It was here.

And with that came every emotion, at different times. So fortunate to have so many people, but so hard to say goodbye while simultaneously trying to push down everything I was feeling.

“Are you excited?” “Are you nervous?”

Of course! Both. I don’t know. I have no idea what’s coming.

And these damn bags are stopping me from enjoying the “last” moments.

Like a scale can’t measure the weight of emotion.

But it’s here.

And the scale stays home, while my bags get on that plane and meet a new metric system.
